Arde Lucus is Lugo's most spectacular festival, a lively historical reenactment transporting the entire city back to its Roman and Celtic origins. Thousands of participants don period costumes, transforming the streets into a lively tableau of ancient life. The program includes historical reenactments of Roman military camps, Celtic rituals, gladiatorial combats, parades of legions and clans, artisan markets selling period crafts, theatrical performances, traditional music, and fire rituals. The Roman walls become a stage for many events. Arde Lucus has achieved recognition as a Festival of International Tourist Interest.
