The Mercat de Sant Josep de la Boqueria, universally known as La Boqueria, is Barcelona’s most celebrated public food market. Situated along the iconic boulevard of Las Ramblas in the Ciutat Vella district, the market dates back to a 13th-century open-air meat market, with its iconic Modernist iron entrance arch erected in 1914.

Covering over 2,500 square meters with more than 300 vendor stalls, La Boqueria is a sensory feast of colorful Mediterranean produce, live seafood tanks, hanging legs of jamón, and bustling counter-top dining bars:

  • El Quim de la Boqueria: Legendary counter bar famous for fried baby squid with eggs (*huevos con chipirones*) and wild mushrooms with foie gras.
