About Ávila

Known for its perfectly preserved medieval walls, Ávila is one of Spain's highest provincial capitals with an altitude of 1,131 meters. Founded in the 11th century to protect Spanish territories from Moorish invasions, the city is the birthplace of Saint Teresa and maintains a mystical atmosphere with its numerous churches and convents.
